New Office Building Out of Shipping Crates
Providence, Rhode Island has a new eco-friendly office building designed by Distill Studio in conjunction with Truth Box’s Peter Gill Case. The three story building created from old shipping crates, was built to provideaffordable and sustainable office space during our troubled economic times. Tenants can garner use of the buildings office spaces through a green lease, which give business owners a monetary incentive for use.
The building houses twelve small office units from the combined thirty-two shipping containers. Besides being a great reuse source of old shipping containers, the building is also set up to reduce storm water run-off through the use of rain gardens where the plants will contribute to the filtration of the water. Other eco-advantages to the building creation are in the low to no VOC products and the non-petroleum based building insulation.
