Use kinetic energy to power up
Has your cell phone ever died at the wrong moment? Or maybe your iPod has cut out in the middle of a great song and you are nowhere near a charger. That’s when the lack of power frustration can set in.
Well, no more worries about having to keep hand held electronics plugged in at home and no more wondering if you left that empty charger plugged into the wall sucking up all that vampire power.
That’s right, no need to worry because now you don’t need to feed off the grid to keep all your small devices charged up. All you need to do is walk, jog, hike, bike or run as you may normally do and keep those items powered up using your own body’s kinetic energy. Imagine a simple task like taking the dog for a walk and you’ll be able to recharge your cell phone. Recharging is now really that simple.
Created by Tremont Electric, nPower™ technology is generating power through kinetic energy. The charger that they have developed is called the nPower™ PEG for personal energy generator. The PEG is a small device that you can pop into your purse, backpack or pocket while you are out and about. Once your body is moving, all you do is plug in any small electronic device such as a cell phone, GPS or your iPod and the PEG takes the kinetic energy coming from you. converts it and powers up your devices.
The PEG works to charge your devices much like a wall charger does, except for the power source it uses. Kinetic energy is the energy of motion, so as long as you are in motion the PEG will convert your energy into DC energy to power any device that it is plugged into. If you stop moving you stop creating the energy. When using the PEG you will get the same charge time as a wall outlet which is an 80% charge for one hour of charging according to the Tremont Electric site for nPower™.
The PEG itself is nine inches tall, green and carries a snazzy jumping frog logo. The device only weighs in at 9 oz. and comes with a mini USB cable and adapters. The power generation that it creates is up to 4 Watts while the power output is 5.0 Volts DC at 220 mApms.
Now, the PEG as a power source is an eco-friendly form of renewable energy but the components that it’s made from are environmentally friendly too. Internal components are made from recyclable aluminum housing, recyclable inner structure and recycled ABS material.
Tremont Electric does not have the PEG open for sale but you can pre-order the PEG online. For more information on Tremont Electric and their vision for harnessing kinetic energy, visit their main web site at: www.greennpower.com
